Suspected Cambs drug driver who faked identity stopped by police

A Wisbech man who was suspected to be under the influence of drugs while driving has been arrested. The incident took place on August 2. Neighbourhood police officers in the town stopped a driver in a Vauxhall vehicle on Grosvenor Road.

They found that he had no insurance, was driving on an expired provisional licence and wanted on warrant. Further questioning took place and police said the man was found to have failed a DrugsWipe test for cocaine. He had also tried to give a fake identity to police.

A spokesperson for Policing Fenland said: "The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and for being wanted on warrant. They were dealt with for no insurance at the side of the road, the vehicle was seized and recovered. "They did try and give a false name, but the threat of finger print scanner, produced their real name."

Police said the man has now been released under investigation.

However, there are further enquiries into the incident.
